Baby Deltic
I bought the Maplin Raspberry Pi starter set but I haven't powered it up yet because I need a HDMI to VGA adaptor. I was thinking of using an Arduino for the layout.
lyneux
I already tried this earlier in the year with a Sprog2 and a Lenz LI-USB but without success. You'll have a problem with the Raspberry Pi and any hardware that uses certain FTDI chipsets. This includes earlier models of Sprog 2 and the Lenz LI-USB. Read more about the problem here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=8010 http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=16280 Basically the FT232 chipset was hanging the Pi when activated vi JMRI. I tried several solutions but then gave up when I realised the problem lay somewhere between the Pi's kernel and the USB driver stack. There might be a fix if you are prepared to compile a custom kernel for the Pi. Still a nice idea if this can be overcome.
RMweb Gold Revolution Mike Posted December 26, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 26, 2012 Should be OK with a Sprog 3 or Sprog II v3 as they don't use the offending FT232 chipset. Cheers, Mike
meil
I need a HDMI to VGA adaptor. That won't work, you need to use the composite video output.
Baby Deltic
I need a HDMI to VGA adaptor. That won't work, you need to use the composite video output. Not even a proper 20 quid electronic adapter which converts HDMI to VGA? I'll have to dig out one of the old BBC Micro video leads from the attic then. DavidB-AU
I got a Raspberry Pi for Christmas too. Looking for model-related ideas for it. But first I need to learn Python! Cheers David
