DOCJACOB
While posting the images of the LNER Grain wagon I suppose I ought to add these, at the very least for historical interest only. This is especially so as one has been scrapped recently due to ravages of "tin worm" The wagons started life as ex SNCF Dia 1/112 16 ton Mineral wagons. They were built circa 1946 and about 7000 were shipped to France. By 1950 they were repatriated to UK and refurbished for BR use. During the refurbishment some of the fittings like the rope securing loops remained. There are 2 examples preserved un-rebuilt in National Rail Museum and Mangaps respectively. Apparantly they were off the BR system by about 1960. 300 of the rebodied versions were purchased by British Titan Products, laterly Huntsman Tioxide, for ilmenite transport between Immingham docks and the factory at Grimsby (images of the later workings taken by me can be found if you google; Daves Railpics of Lincolnshire) Numbers 206 and 210 were presented to Lincolnshire Wolds Railway and were to be found at Ludborough. 210 was completely scrapped and the remains of 206 block the track bed. Mark Saunders
The British Titan Product ones were not rebodied but simply had the side doors filled in to create a Tippler. Mark Saunders
RJEB
The example at Mangaps was formerly NCB Snowdown Colliery (Kent) number S4, no trace of the original BR number or SNCF numberplate. It has the replacement German DWV wheelsets and axleboxes as fitted by way of replacement by the SNCF.
