I'm just mid-way through a Hornby MK2z full detial and respray, using Brian's excellent etches.

 

I too have Lima 2b's and some 2c's to do as well, but on each of these maufacturers models, the original appertures are way too small and all need filing out - it's quite an intensive job but so worth the end results. I've just got to the transfer application stage with the Hornby 2z ( it's in ScotRail blue stripe ), so I'll post a couple of fots once it's done.

Been trying for a few weeks, no answer as they always seem to be at shows. Or phone rings out.

 

Still not happy with the sliding vents, need to see an assembled sample

M9454 is really showing up a couple of joins in grey primer.

 

Quite a few of the WR Aircon sets had pairs of 2D BFKs in the middle, and 2/2A sets matching BFKs

Check on my stocks, the 2E TSOs are suffering for filler failure so will need rebuilds.

 

More money for Extreme Etchings!

 

I still need to sort a few more rakes and I might need another RU

Well 2E TSOs both with joint failure, currently soaking in paint stripper

2D TSO BFK

2C BSO

 

all coming along well

 

Next in the paintshop will be a 2D FK

 

But I have a few things now to worry about

 

I need 6 later window 2Cs, I have windows for 3 but could possibly squash a BSO out again.

 

I need WR BSO, 2 x TSO, 2 x FK, with one TSO in the shops

 

Then I need a RMB, that will be based on a on Hornby one, roof will get seperate vents and handrails, a respray, but not sure how to deal with the windows.

 

Do I try Replica glazing?

 

Or Comet etched sides?

 

I will also need a pair of Replica B4s

Current status

 

2C BSO, buffers, brasswork and work out a way of securing the roof, then waiting on glazing from Shawplan, also Airfix interior needs more trimming.

2D TSO 1, paint fixed, just need to redo the vertical white lines and finish the transfers, 2 door windows to fit, then brasswork

2D FK 1, to do lining, transfers, brasswork, windows, and interior.

2D BFK, looking for an identity, then windows, most likely in 2E set

2E TSO x 2, ready for sanding down level

2B TSO, windows being filed bigger

2C TSO , windows being filed bigger

2C FK 1, parts being collected

RMB broken down and being smoothed

 

After this 2 x Replica BG to B4 and flush glaze, Replica FO to flushglaze

 

After this to go in to the works will be a 2A TSO, another BG. another 2D FK, and a couple of 2D TSOs

 

Loco wise

 

Severn is OK but may fit brass fan

Loco for the ER set to be done from SH Lima

ETH Peak to be done from old Mainline peak

 

Aim is to finish E1883 set and MR 2AC set this year

 

The MR set will be very difficult to cut to 5 or 6, as there are 4 non TSOs in the set

 

Just need somewhere to run them now.

 

I will convert the terminus into a through station and put a foldable section by the doors, an overbridge will hide the short platforms.

 

Looks like the railway I started at school will be finished in my retirement!

FK 3/4 done BFK 90% done, but lost a window, and one was missing.

 

2E TSO late all windows can fall through, as soon as possible will frame.

 

2B TSO fitting frames.

Well another update, pictures to go up later

 

E5691 done except no smoking stickers

E13584 done except no smoking stickers

 

The BFK just needs an identity and some steps

 

My 2b and 2c TSOs are coming along well.

 

The RMB is interesting

 

Will be raiding Replica, Comet, and Extreme Etchings next weekend for components.

 

I have set aside for a western region aircon set or 2 so far 3 x 2E TSO, 1 x 2D FK, 1 x 2D BFK, 1 x BG, will need another RU or use my RBR

 

Oh and I have managed to find enough connections for now, but will search Warley
