L&Y
Just discovered this while in the area. Didn't have time to have a look sadly. It was just too far north of were I was. But narrow gauge railway & collection of steam excavators look very interesting. Just a shameless plug in case anybody else is interested! http://www.threlkeldquarryandminingmuseum.co.uk Must go and have a look later this year. Love the old steam excavotors. RMweb Premium ColinK Posted May 31, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 31, 2015 It's well worth a visit. Also in the area is the Millerbeck railway, a private passenger carrying garden railway which has occasional open days.
L&Y
That bottom pic really makes me want to make the trip. Thanks. When i was a kid my favorite book was Mike mulligan & his steam shovel! Though i still have never actually seen a steam shovel working in real life. Still quite like the idea of a quarry line.
Bob110
I spent a whole day looking around, and then went back there the next day. It is a brilliant place run by friendly enthusiasts. Bob
long island jack
it's not much fun there, when it's raining, which it does a lot in the lake district!!!! but when the sun's out there's no better place! Ray
