Halifax Model Railway Club will be hosting its 44th annual exhibition at the North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax HX3 6TE on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September 2016.
The opening times are 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday. There is excellent access for wheelchairs as the venue is on one level and there are wide aisles. The venue will be well sign-posted. It is 10 minutes walk from the railway station.
Admission prices are Adult [over 18]: £6; accompanied children free and unaccompanied children £3.00.
A number of layouts have been invited covering a spectrum of scales and gauges. These layouts include:
[N] Melton Mowbray North: a recreation of this station from the 1960’s. Millfield Yard: Two level layout featuring freight and passenger trains in the early 1990’s.
[HO] European: Dettingen: a station on a rural German branch line. Antwerpen Oostkaai: Featuring Belgian trains and trams in this port city.
[HO American]: Gardner, New England by Halifax MRC. Featuring a regional railroad interchanging with a short line.
[OOn3]: Annascaul: Recreating a passing station on the Tralee and Dingle in Ireland.
[OO] Halifax: Large continuous run steam era layout depicting our local station. Whiteacres: Modern mainline station with constant flow of trains. Crawton: 1980’s era diesels on this secondary route. Wheal Louise: Cornish china clay scene. Grime Street: Operating trams, vehicles and two wheeled machines.
[EM] Harkness: A light railway in Northumberland set in the steam era.
[Oe]: Emley Sous Bois: a charming French narrow gauge station.
[On16.5] Laws Yard: Moving goods in an industrial setting.
[O] Mill Bank Alley: A depiction of a railway yard in the Halifax area in the 1980’s.

There is limited on site parking but there is free on street parking. Reading bus route 17 stops about a 5 minute walk from the hall.

0Brighton MRC will be holding one of their occasional sales day on Saturday 16th August 2025. It will be from 1000 to 1400 at the Clubrooms on London Road railway station, Shaftesbury Place, Brighton BN1 4QS.
There will be a large selection of preowned Model Railway items including locomotives, rolling stock and accessories, mainly OO gauge.
No charge for admission.
There will be refreshments available

0Hosted by the Ulster Model Railway Club, the Belfast Model Railway Exhibition will take place this year at Belfast Royal Academical Institution, in the heart of the city centre, Saturday and Sunday 23-24th August. Please note the new venue for the exhibition. It will be held in the sports hall on the school campus. Access will be through the entrance gates on Fisherwick Place. The sports hall is towards the rear of the complex.
We will have around 20 layouts, eight traders and a mix of special interest groups and modelling societies in attendance.

Quibbles: I know you have to rent the floorspace by the square metere, but it got a bit crowded at times between stalls/layouts.
Positives: Lots of good trade support, some superb layouts, and very helpful friendly staff.
Warley was always going to be a hard act to follow, and the organisers did well.
I can see this growing in the future
