Just realised this was in the wrong week on the calendar. Oops! Sorry all!
At our Christmas club meeting last Thursday, we decided that a really good way to celebrate Christmas and New Year would be to hold an informal open afternoon/running session to give anyone who has a couple of hours free a chance to test run any new locos which may have arrived on a sleigh a few days previously!
The aim is to have at least two out of our three exhibition layouts up and running (probably Shoreditch in N, and either Wotton in 00, or Rue Sidi Brahim in HO) in the downstairs room at the Chapel, which will allow visitors to run any 00 and N gauge stock that they may like to bring along.
Shoreditch 2mm scale
Rue Sidi brahim 3.5mm scale
Wotton 4mm scale (although thanks to the tosspot who rear-ended my car my L49 won't be available for a while!)
There is also a possibility that Sumatra Road will be on show as it will be en route from storage to it's new home, and may well call in for the afternoon!
Finally, although not truly on display, visitors who can manage the stairs are invited to come and have a look around the clubroom, and see Mount Pleasant and South Bromley.
It is not going to be a flashy affair, just an excuse for a few of us to get together, drink tea, and run some trains. All visitors will be made very welcome.
Hope to see you there!

A great show, as always. Some excellent layouts. Thank you to all concerned.

Weston-Super-Mare Model Railway Show 2026
By ianmianmianm,
Great mix of layouts and trade,
....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking...... why oh why!
The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.

SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SHOW -JANUARY 24TH/25TH 2026
By Robin Brasher,
Despite South West Trains' best efforts I managed to get to the exhibition on time. I had my doubts when they announced at Southampton Central Station that my train would be running non stop to Waterloo but I got on a Cross Country train that stopped at Southampton Airport. The pictures show:
1. My arrival at the exhibition on a heritage bus provided by the organisers.
2. There were a lot of people at the exhibition and a huge queue for the coffee machines. There seemed to be more people there than in previous years.
3. Essence of Ventnor in 0 gauge was one of the splendid layouts there. I saw it last year at the Brockenhurst exhibition.
4. Seaton Junction in 00 gauge was another interesting layout. There was an N gauge model of Seaton Junction at Pecorama that it donated to our model railway club so I found it interesting to see Seaton Junction in a larger scale.
I was not so lucky with my return journey as South West Trains was unable to run any trains from Southampton Central to Bournemouth and Weymouth so I ended up having to catch a taxi to Bournemouth.

WMRA Annual Exhibition
By Robin Brasher,
Excellent show. plenty of free parking, over 30 layouts, lots of traders and full catering. I liked the scenery on the illustrated 009 gauge Feorag layout set in an imaginary island west of Cornwall. TT:120 seems to be well received with two small oval layouts on display.
