    This exhibition will be held in Fort Pitt Grammar School, Chatham, next door to the University College for the Creative Arts, only a few minutes’ walk from Chatham railway and bus station and the A2. The full postal address is: Fort Pitt Grammar School, Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham, Kent. ME4 6TJ

    Chatham railway station is only 40 minutes from Central London, 33 minutes from Stratford and 21 minutes from Ebbsfleet International – using the frequent high speed ‘Javelin’ service.

    As usual, we will offer a good number of visiting model railway layouts in various track gauges covering both steam and diesel eras – and not just British trains! This year there are:

    18 different exhibits including a new children’s layout owned by the Gravesend Railway Enthusiasts’ Society (GRES) and a (tiny) T Gauge layout, both making their debut at this exhibition, as well as a working lit funfair and science-fiction related models;
    14 different trade stands selling a range of items, not just railway related;
    2 stands from preservation societies – Thames & Medway Canal Association and Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway.

    So, plenty of fun to entertain the young and young at heart, as well as a chance to enjoy hot and cold food freshly prepared by the school caterers plus a selection of refreshments.

    For the second year all money collected from our raffle will be going to Guide Dogs, who we are proud to support again in 2016. Guide Dogs not only train assistance dogs for visually impaired people, but their aim is to ensure people who are blind and partially sighted can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else. The charity do not receive government funding so they rely on public generosity to fund their services - and visitors to the show are asked to give generously. Dave Kent of Guide Dogs, who has appeared as the face of Guide Dogs in publicity material and television adverts, will officially open the show with his guide dog Chad at 10.30 on Saturday (2 September). Dave is a model railway enthusiast and is again looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of the show.

    I’m proud to say we raised £350 for Guide Dogs last year.

         Good little show. Bit biased though as I’m exhibiting at the show and have done so for a couple of years now.

    • Gauge O Guild Winter Show
      By LAWLOGG Editor,
         A few words about the show, some pictures of us setting up our stands (and, more significantly, a comprehensive video of the attendees) are available at this link.
    • The National Festival of Railway Modelling @ NEC
      By 7013,
         Considering this is the first show by BRM I thought they did a reall good job.
      Quibbles: I know you have to rent the floorspace by the square metere, but it got a bit crowded at times between stalls/layouts.
      Positives: Lots of good trade support, some superb layouts, and very helpful friendly staff.
      Warley was always going to be a hard act to follow, and the organisers did well.
      I can see this growing in the future
    • Tyneside Model Railway Exhibition
      By jacko,
         Drove down from Lanark early on Saturday morning (6 hour round trip!) to arrive shortly after 10am.  The first surprise was seeing my cousin showing his O gauge layout in the foyer (shown as east Glasson port authority on the programme but it wasn't that). Nice to have a chat with him as we've not met for a couple of years. Moving on to the main halls, there seemed to be plenty of space for viewing, helped no doubt by my being there so early. I'd driven down especially to see Grantham, Pelaw and Fencehouses having seen them in the mags and I wasn't disappointed so spent at least an hour swapping between the three. All three layouts exceeded expectations but it was also great to see Richmond in the flesh, it having only just appeared in print last month. I saw Alston in Glasgow in February and there's been no drop in quality. However,  my favourite (and I'm probably biased as I'm modelling the s&c) was Kirtley Bridge - what a superb layout, the quality of modelling and the atmosphere was outstanding. I think I spent around 3 hours at the show and was absolutely wrecked by the time I got home but it was well worth it. I'll be watching out for next year's dates to make sure they're kept clear.
      Graeme
