Eurospoor 2017: 25 year! A jubilee year with extra layouts!
    3 - 5 November 2017, Jaarbeurs Utrecht, NL
(Sunday 5 November free entrance for children under the age of 12 with e-ticket).
For 25 years, Leo and Chitra Hendriksen are the driving force behind the Eurospoor train. Started in a small hall in Zaandam, the Netherlands it slowly grew to become an international event for hobbyists coming to the Jaarbeurs from far and wide. The name 'Eurospoor' for the event came almost by itself as the borders would open in 1993, making it easier for foreigners to cross national borders with goods and layouts without much formalities.
Now for the 25th time Model railway buffs should be getting ready for Europe's largest model railway event, EUROSPOOR, which takes place this year in the Jaarbeurs (trade fair centre) in Utrecht, the Netherlands on 3, 4 and 5 November 2017. A surface area of 23,000 square meters will offer visitors the chance to view over 60 model railways belonging to clubs from the Netherlands as well as other countries, extensive model train collections, model-making demonstrations, stands of representatives and retailers, a model railway market of appr. 1000 meter length where train-lovers offer their used trains, accesories and collectors' items for sale or exchange.

After the success of using our fantastic fully accessible venue in 2016, this year's exhibition will again offer a great variety of interesting layouts, railway societies and a selection of quality trade support. We have 14 different railway layouts from Z gauge to O gauge, including two making their exhibition debut - BelmontBahn (HO) and Jongreg (OO-9) plus a slighter longer model of the Volks Electric Railway (OO-9), operated by Noel and Derek on Sunday only, that now includes Black Rock Halt, Halfway and the Aquarium stop. There will also be a number of local traders joining us plus societies are to be represented as well - such as the Southern Electric Group, the Network South-East society and the 4DD Double deck group. Don't know what a 4DD is/was? There's only one way to find out...!

Close to the A2, Ebbsfleet station and Bluewater, Northfleet School for Girls (DA11 8AQ) has: Free on-site parking, wheelchair access, the usual friendly atmosphere and a regular bus service that stops outside. Our members are happy to assist those who need assistance and answer enquiries about the Show or Society.

Once again, we are so proud of our exhibition that children accompanied by an adult are able to join us for FREE. So that means, one adult can bring several children with them and only pay £4!

An extensive range of hot and cold food and refreshments will be available. Plus on Sunday we will again be serving roast dinners with all the trimmings between 12-2pm; Beef, Turkey and a vegetarian option.

Ebbsfleet railway station is only 17 minutes from Central London, 10 minutes from Stratford International and Gravesend railway station is 11 minutes from Dartford. Northfleet School for Girls is about 2-3 minutes drive from the Northfleet turn-off from the A2.

Bus route 481 serves Gravesend town centre, Ebbsfleet station and Bluewater shopping centre and stops outside the school on both days. Other regular bus services stop close by to Northfleet School for Girls. Anyone arriving by bus will be able to have one free tea or coffee on production of their bus ticket.

      By clogger,
Good little show. Bit biased though as I’m exhibiting at the show and have done so for a couple of years now.

    • Gauge O Guild Winter Show
      By LAWLOGG Editor,
A few words about the show, some pictures of us setting up our stands (and, more significantly, a comprehensive video of the attendees) are available at this link.
    • The National Festival of Railway Modelling @ NEC
      By 7013,
Considering this is the first show by BRM I thought they did a reall good job.
Quibbles: I know you have to rent the floorspace by the square metere, but it got a bit crowded at times between stalls/layouts.
Positives: Lots of good trade support, some superb layouts, and very helpful friendly staff.
Warley was always going to be a hard act to follow, and the organisers did well.
I can see this growing in the future
    • Tyneside Model Railway Exhibition
      By jacko,
Drove down from Lanark early on Saturday morning (6 hour round trip!) to arrive shortly after 10am.  The first surprise was seeing my cousin showing his O gauge layout in the foyer (shown as east Glasson port authority on the programme but it wasn't that). Nice to have a chat with him as we've not met for a couple of years. Moving on to the main halls, there seemed to be plenty of space for viewing, helped no doubt by my being there so early. I'd driven down especially to see Grantham, Pelaw and Fencehouses having seen them in the mags and I wasn't disappointed so spent at least an hour swapping between the three. All three layouts exceeded expectations but it was also great to see Richmond in the flesh, it having only just appeared in print last month. I saw Alston in Glasgow in February and there's been no drop in quality. However,  my favourite (and I'm probably biased as I'm modelling the s&c) was Kirtley Bridge - what a superb layout, the quality of modelling and the atmosphere was outstanding. I think I spent around 3 hours at the show and was absolutely wrecked by the time I got home but it was well worth it. I'll be watching out for next year's dates to make sure they're kept clear.
      Graeme
