The Ilford & West Essex MRC are proud to present our annual West Essex Modelrail at our familiar venue. This will be the club's 61st exhibition.

Being the 4th oldest club in the UK we feel it right to bring a quality show to the public. We will offer over 20 layouts, supported by numerous society and trade stands.

We make it a policy (other than our club layouts) not to keep showing the same exhibits periodically, always trying to bring something new to the area.

We have reduced the cost for the family ticket this year to try and encourage a family day out, unlimited children with 2 adults.

The exhibition is housed in one large and one very large main halls together with a small additional space near the catering area.

Give us a try I am sure you will be very pleasantly surprised.

The venue is situated between Romford & Chadwell Heath on the outer edge of Greater London. There is ample on site parking on hard standing and the event is completely wheelchair user friendly.

Romford Station on TFL Rail is the closest from which to travel if not driving and you can catch an 86 bus (approx. every 10 mins) to right outside the venue on both days.

An good range of hot and cold food and refreshments will be available.

Considering this is the first show by BRM I thought they did a reall good job.
Quibbles: I know you have to rent the floorspace by the square metere, but it got a bit crowded at times between stalls/layouts.
Positives: Lots of good trade support, some superb layouts, and very helpful friendly staff.

    • Tyneside Model Railway Exhibition
      By jacko,
Drove down from Lanark early on Saturday morning (6 hour round trip!) to arrive shortly after 10am.  The first surprise was seeing my cousin showing his O gauge layout in the foyer (shown as east Glasson port authority on the programme but it wasn't that). Nice to have a chat with him as we've not met for a couple of years. Moving on to the main halls, there seemed to be plenty of space for viewing, helped no doubt by my being there so early. I'd driven down especially to see Grantham, Pelaw and Fencehouses having seen them in the mags and I wasn't disappointed so spent at least an hour swapping between the three. All three layouts exceeded expectations but it was also great to see Richmond in the flesh, it having only just appeared in print last month. I saw Alston in Glasgow in February and there's been no drop in quality. However,  my favourite (and I'm probably biased as I'm modelling the s&c) was Kirtley Bridge - what a superb layout, the quality of modelling and the atmosphere was outstanding. I think I spent around 3 hours at the show and was absolutely wrecked by the time I got home but it was well worth it. I'll be watching out for next year's dates to make sure they're kept clear.
      Graeme
