Welcome to Railex North East 2017 organised by the Blyth & Tyne Model Railway Society.
This is our 49th show we have organised and the 1st at the John Spence Community High School. The Exhibition will be held on the 29th & 30th July 2017, between the following times -
10am to 5pm Saturday & 10am to 4pm Sunday (9.30am entry on both days for Advanced Ticket Holders, see 'Buy Tickets').
Exhibition Manager Lee Davies is assembling a superb collection of Layouts, Demonstrations & Trade Support, and as regular visitors to the exhibition will be aware, we have continuously been trying to improve the quality of the layouts which are on display each year. It is therefore pleasing to hear the comments from visitors’ that it is something we have been accomplishing. Hopefully we have achieved the same standard or improved again this year.
This year the Exhibition will be officially opened by David Bavaird, Chairman of North Shields Chamber of Trade. We will have up to 40 layouts, representing layouts with a British theme and layouts from around the world ranging from N to O Gauge. We hope they will cover an area that is of particular interest to you or show you something out of the ordinary that will inspire you in your latest modelling project.
We also have 14 Demonstrations, covering most aspects of modelling and displays in Meccano. Also this year we have numerous layouts and demonstrations showing the latest technology in Model Railways – Digital Command Control (DCC). Please take your time to visit all parts of the Exhibition, and ask the exhibitors as many questions as you like. We also have a fine array of Local and National Trade support this year, supplying the railway modeller with just about everything they need, so please give them your support.
We will also have a modelling area for all children sponsored by Smart Models. All children will be able to construct a free card building and be able to take it home with them. We respectfully ask all parents to assist in the supervision of their children during this task.
This year we have our usual Tombola. This way you get your prizes straight away. There are many fine prizes this year including Loco’s donated by Hornby and Dapol. So please stop by admire the prizes and buy a ticket or two. There is also our usual stand of used magazines available for a donation.
Our chosen charity this year is - NHS Bowel Screening Service.
Special thanks must go to the John Spence Team for their invaluable support in helping us arrange this exhibition at the School and to Booklaw Publications for their continued support.
Also thanks must go to all the Exhibitors for supporting the show and the Traders for their continued support in the programme and the show.
Please take the time to fill in the Questionnaire your comments are important to us. This will enable us to continue to improve the exhibition for your continued enjoyment for years to come. Also don’t forget to vote for your favourite layout on the questionnaire. This form can be left at the entrance desk.

Hi All,
http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/index.html
Well, it's that time of year where Castle offers you a look round the great GWR toy box that is Didcot Railway Centre on Sunday 30th July 2017! All the usual treats are on offer including in an in depth tour through all our exhibits and workshops, the unrestored wagon and coach collection, the annual special guest appearance by Stationmaster Mike in one of 'his' signal boxes and a chance to look at anything you want that isn't moving or on a running line. I don't currently know what the rostered motive power will be but I will let you know when I know! Anything that is moving or on a running line can be viewed after the toys have been put away at the end of the day by just asking and being prepared to hang around a bit afterwards! If there is something special you would like to see, measure or photograph for current or future projects then please let me know and I will see what we can do. The answer is nearly always yes, no problem!
We are also entering into intercontinental visitor territory as we will be welcoming Mr On The Branch Line and his good lady to that little corner of an Oxfordshire town that is forever GWR. So, if you want to come and have a first look round, meet up with fellow RMWEB members, see how we have progressed on some of our restoration work up close and / or just come a long to have a good look at the premier collection of GWR rolling stock with knowledgeable guides (and me!) then book a spot by either posting a reply on the tour thread (link above) or sending me a PM.
We usually start up by meeting at the main gate at 12:00hrs so everyone can have a ride on the trains before hand and then go all afternoon until about 16:30 - 17:00hrs. Children are welcome and in fact are encouraged as long as the supervising adult looks after them as we will take you behind the scenes.
I look forward to see you there for some 12":1' scale fun!
All the best,
Castle

Immingham Model Railway Show
By SealionSteve,
A great show, as always. Some excellent layouts. Thank you to all concerned.

Weston-Super-Mare Model Railway Show 2026
By ianmianmianm,
Great mix of layouts and trade,
....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking...... why oh why!
The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.

SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SHOW -JANUARY 24TH/25TH 2026
By Robin Brasher,
Despite South West Trains' best efforts I managed to get to the exhibition on time. I had my doubts when they announced at Southampton Central Station that my train would be running non stop to Waterloo but I got on a Cross Country train that stopped at Southampton Airport. The pictures show:
1. My arrival at the exhibition on a heritage bus provided by the organisers.
2. There were a lot of people at the exhibition and a huge queue for the coffee machines. There seemed to be more people there than in previous years.
3. Essence of Ventnor in 0 gauge was one of the splendid layouts there. I saw it last year at the Brockenhurst exhibition.
4. Seaton Junction in 00 gauge was another interesting layout. There was an N gauge model of Seaton Junction at Pecorama that it donated to our model railway club so I found it interesting to see Seaton Junction in a larger scale.
I was not so lucky with my return journey as South West Trains was unable to run any trains from Southampton Central to Bournemouth and Weymouth so I ended up having to catch a taxi to Bournemouth.

WMRA Annual Exhibition
By Robin Brasher,
Excellent show. plenty of free parking, over 30 layouts, lots of traders and full catering. I liked the scenery on the illustrated 009 gauge Feorag layout set in an imaginary island west of Cornwall. TT:120 seems to be well received with two small oval layouts on display.
