Twickenham MRC's 2018 will feature at least four working layouts, displays, demonstrations, refreshments and our secondhand stand.
This year the focus will mainly be on OO with at least three working layouts in that gauge .........
TWICKENHAM JUNCTION - our new flagship OO steam era layout will be making its first public appearance. The layout is an accurate model of the old Twickenham station as if it had not been rebuilt post WW2 as our model is set circa 1961.
EASTGATE - our new privatisation era D&E layout. The club is building a relatively small layout in order to attract a bigger group of dedicated D&E modellers who can then tackle a bigger more ambitious layout in the near future - come and join the group and help turn that dream of a BIG D&E layout into a reality.
NORTHWICK - our current steam era exhibition layout - it's been revamped and extended in the last two years - come and see the improvements! Here's a quick snapshot ...................................

Weathering using powders - demonstration
Secondhand stand - well-wishers have donated a variety of items to tempt you. If you have any old unwanted items you would be prepared to donate to the club please bring them along or contact us to arrange collection.
Refreshments - sit down with a cup of tea and watch the trains go by!
All in all I nice relaxing way to spend the day - hope to see you there.

THE SHOW FOR THE RAILWAY MODELLER

By Rail - Nearst railway station is Cambridge North - then either two stops on the Guilded Busway or 25 mins walk.

Basingstoke & North Hants MRS Open Day, Sunday, 6th September 2026
I spent an enjoyable afternoon at this event today. The club members were welcoming and the set up is very good.
Pete's Royal Albert Bridge layout in N with a Peak crossing from the Cornish side with a parcels working.
Ian's 2mm FS dockside layout featuring working road vehicles and a narrow gauge factory line

Weston-Super-Mare Model Railway Show 2026
Great mix of layouts and trade,
....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking...... why oh why!
The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.
