    The 83rd public exhibition of the Manchester Model Railway Society will take place over the weekend of December 10th/11th 2022 at our new, spacious venue in central Manchester – The Sugden Centre, Sidney Street, M1 7HB.
     
    25 layouts, including two making their debut exhibition appearance.
    Approx 25 traders
    Other attractions
    Ticket prices held at their 2019 levels.
    New venue with step free access throughout.

    WOOLWICH MODEL RAILWAY SHOW (London)

    Held at a stunning large house with interesting ww2 bunkers. Real ale bar on site and cafe.  Model railway signs present <br>

    Discounted tickets for tfl/london underground and rail staff (Passes must be shown on entry and pre-booked) 

    Free on street parking around venue and onsite cafe and real ale bar, so leave the car at home! 
    Bus 244 from Woolwich DLR, BR and Elizabeth Line and 5 mins walk from Eaglesfield Road bus stop 
    Bus 486 from North Greenwich tube and 5 mins walk from top of Shooters Hill 
    Bus 89 or 486 from Bexleyheath, Welling, Charlton, Lewisham and Blackheath to top of Shooters Hill

    Please note 1/3rd of show is in upstairs rooms with no wheelchair access hence why reduced rate for wheelchair users. There is full access to bar and cafe

    Our shop stocks a wide selection of pre-owned models – we’ll have a table of bargains, and new items not in our online shop. And you can ‘click and collect’ from our online shop post free as long as you order by Thursday 30th November (other on-line items won’t be available on the day)
     
    Refreshments (including a selection of freshly made rolls and Greene King beers) will be available.
     
    Please note there are steps or stairs to all rooms.

      John Ahern's historic railway will be running on a select few days a year to help preserve this incredible creation.
      Normal museum admission prices apply and there is no need to book in advance.
      Make sure to pick up a copy of our recently published Guide book which has some updated information about the MVR and is a must-have for any model rail enthusiast or anyone interested in John Ahern. You can purchase the Guide book at the museum.

      In support of the Risborough Festival on Saturday 11th July 2026, the Risborough & District Model Railway Club will be holding an Open Day at the Princes Risborough St. Mary's Hall (Church Street) from 10:00 to 16:30. We plan to part exhibit our new O gauge layout project, as well as our Test Track for members of the public to test their rolling stock on. There will be second hand sales, refreshments and some modelling displays. Admission is FREE.

         Great mix of layouts and trade,
       
      ....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking......       why oh why!
       
      The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.

    • SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SHOW -JANUARY 24TH/25TH 2026

         Despite South West Trains' best efforts I managed to get to the exhibition on time. I had my doubts when they announced at Southampton Central Station that my train would be running non stop to Waterloo but I got on a Cross Country train that stopped at Southampton Airport. The pictures show:
      1. My arrival at the exhibition on a heritage bus provided by the organisers.
      2. There were a lot of people at the exhibition and a huge queue for the coffee machines. There seemed to be more people there than in previous years.
      3. Essence of Ventnor in 0 gauge was one of the splendid layouts there. I saw it last year at the Brockenhurst exhibition.
      4. Seaton Junction in 00 gauge was another interesting layout. There was an N gauge model of Seaton Junction at Pecorama that it donated to our model railway club so I found it interesting to see Seaton Junction in a larger scale.
       
      I was not so lucky with my return journey as South West Trains was unable to run any trains from Southampton Central to Bournemouth and Weymouth so I ended up having to catch a taxi to Bournemouth.
       
       




    • WMRA Annual Exhibition

         Excellent show. plenty of free parking, over 30 layouts, lots of traders and full catering. I liked the scenery on the illustrated 009 gauge Feorag layout set in an imaginary island west of Cornwall. TT:120 seems to be well received with two small oval layouts on display.
