    Layouts

    Yelverton - Alex { Wiggoforgold} brings us his delightful rendition of Yelverton, as running in the summer of 1958. His scratchbuilt buildings, faithful to prototype are a joy to behold in their own right. { 4mm 00 gauge }

    Trowland- Rob { Rob R } Rob now has custody of Trevor Nunn's East Anglian masterpiece. Constructed in S scale, one could almost say that this is a pre-pre-grouping layout. A small corner of the North Norfolk coast from 19th Century....... { 1/64 scale }

    William Smiths Wharf-Jerry { Queensquare } Champion of all things 2mm F/S, Jerry brings Williams Smith's Wharf to SWAG and will be demonstrating just how practical a proposition modelling in 2mm finescale really is. { 2mm F/S }

    The Hollow. Stu. { Stubby 47 }  Stu's latest 009 adventure. A  small narrow gauge roundy roundy showcasing Stu's undoubted abilities as a builder of fine buildings. Have a good look and take the opportunity to chat to Stu about any bespoke  or adapted kit built buildings he could provide you with for your own projects. ...............{4mm 009 }

    St. Martin-sur-Or- { 10800 } Rod produces his  French odyssey based on a disused ex-Midi secondary line in South West France. Features overhead Catenary, mechanical signals and more than a few croissant crumbs. { 3.5 mm HO }

    Shwt-John. { Johndc120 } A study in end of line dereliction beautifully presented in EM gauge. Expect real flavour of a 1960s line just clinging on...... { 4mm EM Gauge }

    Fryers Lane -Mark. { Mark Forrest } Arising from the ashes of the Scalefour Society's Standard Gauge Workbench initiative and now much expanded, this layout will showcase Sectorised British Rail in the relatively recent past. Positively Modern Image !  { 4mm 00 gauge }

    Llandafal- George Haylock has popped up at a couple of shows in South Wales this year and has kindly accepted an invite to bring his take on a GWR BLT, Cameostyle.  If you thought you didn't have room for a BLT, think again. It's George's first layout by the way..........{ 4mm 00 gauge }

    East Lynn Quay- Maurice Hopper brings along another of Trevor Nunn's S Scale masterpieces in the form of his 2004 addendum to his lovely East Lynn layout.

    Demos. Some nice types have "volunteered " to share their methods and will be awaiting your questions on the day.............

    Chris { Gilbert } will be showing us a few bits and bobs. A bit of weathering and some alternative methods of coupling will be to the fore. Lurking in the background will be his East Anglian Cameo layout, Lockdown Fen as an added bonus.

    Jamie { Southern Region Steam } will be along offering advice on photography. In addition, if you have a particular favourite loco, building or item of rolling stock, Jamie will be happy to photograph them on the day.

    Martyn { Mullie } will be have the latest addition to his East Anglian odyssey, Upbech Quay on hand and will also be available to discuss how he achieves the beautifully subdued colours on his layouts.

    Bring and Buy

    Closer to the day we will be inviting anyone who has surplus items to put them into the established Bring and Buy Bazaar. A proportion of the proceeds from each sale will go to the Charity of choice. Please start looking on those shelves and in those cabinets for anything you'd like to move on.  Our Special Retail Executives will be on hand to assist you.

    Catering

    Of course SWAG wouldn't be SWAG without the promise of Pasties and Cakes and rest assured these will be readily available on the day courtesy of the highly skilled crack catering department.
    As ever, all proceeds raised will go to our charity of choice.

    Trader support.

    Lord and Butler.

    247 Developments.

    Mudmagnet Models.

    How........................... much ?!!!!!!!

    ☆☆ Now, remember, this is still a free to enter members day. However, there are running costs associated with the event. To help with this, there'll be suitably labelled receptacles dotted about the hall. If you could donate a few coins into these at your discretion, you'll be helping to ensure we can do this again in 2024.☆☆

    oh....and

    Naughty step.

     Normally fully occupied by the day of the event but consideration will be given to suitable late contenders.

    Loud shirts

    Encouraged. Possible Picasso award on the day for best effort.
    ( Good opportunity for new comers as Neil { Black Rat } has once again bizarrely chosen to go to the Canary Islands instead of attending SWAG )

    I thank you.

    Rob.

    • Robertsbridge Model Railway Show 24-25 May 2025
      By clogger,
         Good little show. Bit biased though as I’m exhibiting at the show and have done so for a couple of years now.

    • Gauge O Guild Winter Show
      By LAWLOGG Editor,
         A few words about the show, some pictures of us setting up our stands (and, more significantly, a comprehensive video of the attendees) are available at this link.
    • The National Festival of Railway Modelling @ NEC
      By 7013,
         Considering this is the first show by BRM I thought they did a reall good job.
      Quibbles: I know you have to rent the floorspace by the square metere, but it got a bit crowded at times between stalls/layouts.
      Positives: Lots of good trade support, some superb layouts, and very helpful friendly staff.
      Warley was always going to be a hard act to follow, and the organisers did well.
      I can see this growing in the future
    • Tyneside Model Railway Exhibition
      By jacko,
         Drove down from Lanark early on Saturday morning (6 hour round trip!) to arrive shortly after 10am.  The first surprise was seeing my cousin showing his O gauge layout in the foyer (shown as east Glasson port authority on the programme but it wasn't that). Nice to have a chat with him as we've not met for a couple of years. Moving on to the main halls, there seemed to be plenty of space for viewing, helped no doubt by my being there so early. I'd driven down especially to see Grantham, Pelaw and Fencehouses having seen them in the mags and I wasn't disappointed so spent at least an hour swapping between the three. All three layouts exceeded expectations but it was also great to see Richmond in the flesh, it having only just appeared in print last month. I saw Alston in Glasgow in February and there's been no drop in quality. However,  my favourite (and I'm probably biased as I'm modelling the s&c) was Kirtley Bridge - what a superb layout, the quality of modelling and the atmosphere was outstanding. I think I spent around 3 hours at the show and was absolutely wrecked by the time I got home but it was well worth it. I'll be watching out for next year's dates to make sure they're kept clear.
      Graeme
