Sodbury Vale Model Railway Club.Railway Modelling Open Day
We look forward to welcoming visitors to our first Open Day on Sunday 20th October 2024 at Lyde Green Community Centre, Willowherb Road, Lyde Green nr. Emerson Green, Bristol. BS16 7GW.
We’ve several aims for this event. Firstly, it’s an opportunity for as many local model railway clubs and societies to display and showcase what they do and to inspire and enthuse both existing and new modellers in the hobby. If it generates new members to these clubs then that is another plus.
The second aim is to deliver a comprehensive and diverse range of layouts, modelling displays, societies and local trades to help visitors ‘See how it’s done’, to ‘ask how?’ and to ‘find out how to do it’ and to ‘Inspire the hobby’.
This is an opportunity for modellers and enthusiasts, societies and local traders to advertise and enthuse the hobby. All proceeds raised on the day will be donated to the local community and numerous charities.
There is ample free parking and a local Park and Ride for overspill parking too.
The event is all on the ground floor with full dissability access and light refreshments are available.

Londons Transport in miniature Sunday 6th Sept N1 6DA
Wasn’t sure if this was already advertised elsewhere on the forum but thought worth a mention. Link below to the website and a bit of the exhibtion blurb too.
themodelrailwayclub.org/events/londons-transport-in-miniature/
The MRC together with their friends at the London Underground Railway Society are organising a one day mini-exhibition featuring London Underground modelling.
The event will have a selection of model railway layouts, displays, demonstrations and manufacturers present.
Hopefully the day should be an ideal chance to see current strands of Underground modelling and engage with those exhibiting as well as seeing a range of models from RTR, kit built and 3D printed examples across a range of scales and eras. There will definitely be prototypes from 1890s to current Piccadilly 2024 Stock on display! But equally important it should be a chance for both societies to attract new members as well as a rare chance for like minded modellers to meet up and socialise. We trust members will patronise the event and assist to bring it to the attention of any friends that maybe interested.
It will be held at Keen House, London N1 9DA between hours of 11.00 and 16.00.
Tickets on the door to the public will be £12.00 for adults , accompanied 5-16s £6. For members of both LURS and the MRC entry will be £10.00. MRC members will need to show their membership card and LURS members should bring an UN delivery envelope to gain the discounted ticket price on the door.
The MRC snack bar and licensed bar will be open throughout the day selling teas, coffees, soft drinks, snacks, rolls and with a full alcoholic bar offering too.
