Sheffield Model Railway Enthusiasts Club Room Open DayThe SMRE (Sheffield Model Railway Enthusiasts) will be hosting an open day at their club rooms on Saturday 1st November 2025, 10am - 4:30pm.
Carterknowle Methodist Church,
Edgedale Road,
Sheffield,
S7 2BQ
Adults: £3
Accompanied Children Under 16: Free
7+ members' layouts will be in attendance, and the club rooms on the top floor will be open. If you're in the area and have ever wondered what we get up to, then this is an ideal opportunity to come and take a look! (Spoiler alert: it's mostly chatting rubbish and playing trains! )
We'll also have the club sales stand open, and refreshments available in the on-site café.
Unfortunately disabled access is limited to the downstairs hall only, which includes the members' layouts, refreshments, trade stand, and toilets. The club rooms are located on the top floor accessible only via stairs.
My latest layout, Forge Island, will be having its first semi-proper outing here which I'm rather looking forward to!

Londons Transport in miniature Sunday 6th Sept N1 6DA
Wasn’t sure if this was already advertised elsewhere on the forum but thought worth a mention. Link below to the website and a bit of the exhibtion blurb too.
themodelrailwayclub.org/events/londons-transport-in-miniature/
The MRC together with their friends at the London Underground Railway Society are organising a one day mini-exhibition featuring London Underground modelling.
The event will have a selection of model railway layouts, displays, demonstrations and manufacturers present.
Hopefully the day should be an ideal chance to see current strands of Underground modelling and engage with those exhibiting as well as seeing a range of models from RTR, kit built and 3D printed examples across a range of scales and eras. There will definitely be prototypes from 1890s to current Piccadilly 2024 Stock on display! But equally important it should be a chance for both societies to attract new members as well as a rare chance for like minded modellers to meet up and socialise. We trust members will patronise the event and assist to bring it to the attention of any friends that maybe interested.
It will be held at Keen House, London N1 9DA between hours of 11.00 and 16.00.
Tickets on the door to the public will be £12.00 for adults , accompanied 5-16s £6. For members of both LURS and the MRC entry will be £10.00. MRC members will need to show their membership card and LURS members should bring an UN delivery envelope to gain the discounted ticket price on the door.
The MRC snack bar and licensed bar will be open throughout the day selling teas, coffees, soft drinks, snacks, rolls and with a full alcoholic bar offering too.
