    Romsey and District Railway Modellers Society, 45th Annual Exhibition,
    will be held on the 1st and 2nd of March 2025 at the Crosfield Hall, Romsey, SO51 8GL.
    opening from 10.30 - 17.00 on Saturday and 10.00 - 16.30 on Sunday.
    We will display model railway layouts in a wide range of scales and gauges.
    With trade support, demonstrations and refreshments.

    A two day exhbition displaying layouts in various scales, traders, demonstrators etc. Admission Adults £7.00   Child £4.00,  Family (2+2)  £18.00        Refreshment Service,  Car Parking on site. Admission and Club Shop purchases can now be by cash or credit card.
    Please note that Exhibition will be at a new venue located directly on A57 road approx 1 mile from Rainhill Station and approx 0.5 mile from M62 J7.

    Our 2025 Exhibition is all set for the first weekend in March, at the usual venue (Preston College St Vincent's Road Fulwood Preston PR2 8UR). Over twenty layouts, plus trade stands, demos, etc.
     
    Entry is £9 (£5 for wheelchair users; under 15s free with an adult).

    The Midlands Garden Rail Show offers visitors the opportunity to see layouts in the larger gauges and scales.
    The show has a diverse range of layouts in Gauge 1, O Gauge, G Scale and more.
    Once visitors have been inspired to build your own layout why not visit one of the many specialist suppliers at the show who are more than happy to guide you in the right direction of the best product to purchase.
    Visitors will see live steam model locomotives hauling coaches and wagons - the real thing in miniature

    Our Spring show takes place this weekend in Hucknall, Nottingham. We have a feature on industrial layouts this year, with layouts in 4 and 7mm scales. We also have main line layouts in other scales.
    Venue is St John's Church Hall, Nottingham Road, Hucknall. NG15 7QN. Nearest station is Hucknall and nearest tram stop is Butler's Lane.
    Opening times 10:00 - 17:00 Saturday, 10:00 - 16:00 Sunday.
    Admission £6, accompanied under 16s FREE.
    Hope to see you there - come and have a go at operating the train or crane on my chalk pit layout!

      John Ahern's historic railway will be running on a select few days a year to help preserve this incredible creation.
      Normal museum admission prices apply and there is no need to book in advance.
      Make sure to pick up a copy of our recently published Guide book which has some updated information about the MVR and is a must-have for any model rail enthusiast or anyone interested in John Ahern. You can purchase the Guide book at the museum.

      In support of the Risborough Festival on Saturday 11th July 2026, the Risborough & District Model Railway Club will be holding an Open Day at the Princes Risborough St. Mary's Hall (Church Street) from 10:00 to 16:30. We plan to part exhibit our new O gauge layout project, as well as our Test Track for members of the public to test their rolling stock on. There will be second hand sales, refreshments and some modelling displays. Admission is FREE.

         Great mix of layouts and trade,
       
      ....but the floorplan created real bottlenecks around the entrance which was also the route between halls (via the changing rooms!) and so was already going to be busy anyway. But there were further trade stands and coffee stand put there.... creating groups of people lingering and blocking......       why oh why!
       
      The catering van outside - ended up giving up because as we all stood queuing to buy food, nothing happening in the van, there was a lot of playing with kids and babies but the 4 people there couldn't manage to free up one to take orders.

    • SOUTHAMPTON MODEL RAILWAY SHOW -JANUARY 24TH/25TH 2026

         Despite South West Trains' best efforts I managed to get to the exhibition on time. I had my doubts when they announced at Southampton Central Station that my train would be running non stop to Waterloo but I got on a Cross Country train that stopped at Southampton Airport. The pictures show:
      1. My arrival at the exhibition on a heritage bus provided by the organisers.
      2. There were a lot of people at the exhibition and a huge queue for the coffee machines. There seemed to be more people there than in previous years.
      3. Essence of Ventnor in 0 gauge was one of the splendid layouts there. I saw it last year at the Brockenhurst exhibition.
      4. Seaton Junction in 00 gauge was another interesting layout. There was an N gauge model of Seaton Junction at Pecorama that it donated to our model railway club so I found it interesting to see Seaton Junction in a larger scale.
       
      I was not so lucky with my return journey as South West Trains was unable to run any trains from Southampton Central to Bournemouth and Weymouth so I ended up having to catch a taxi to Bournemouth.
       
       




    • WMRA Annual Exhibition

         Excellent show. plenty of free parking, over 30 layouts, lots of traders and full catering. I liked the scenery on the illustrated 009 gauge Feorag layout set in an imaginary island west of Cornwall. TT:120 seems to be well received with two small oval layouts on display.
