A lot of us start out in railway modelling with a Christmas present of a train set or loco. This layout is set early on Christmas morning, and a boy has received a train set as a present.
The layout is built in 1:12 scale, using some items intended for dolls' houses, which are also often built in this scale. The railway uses T gauge equipment made by Eishindo in Japan, currently the smallest commercially available model railway gauge. In 1:12 scale, the 3mm track gauge scales out close to the 32mm of 0 gauge, which was once commonly used for tinplate toy trains.
The baseboard itself is 1ft 5in x 1ft 5in. Allowing space for the controller, it fits into about 2ft x 2ft of table space.
Power requirements: 2 sockets - lighting and track power (can be run off one extension lead).
The layout can be operated from the front, side or rear depending on available space.
Available for exhibitions (currently based in Hertfordshire) - please message me if you would like to discuss this.
