    Belgian MPD - Layout Facts

     

    HO Scale 1/87 

     

    Paisley Exhibition - Saturday

     

    This layout is based on part of a fictional Motive Power Depot in the east of Belgium near the German and Luxembourg Borders. The shed building is modelled in low relief and it is assumed to by long building with entry and exit off scene to the left.

     

    The layout can portray any time period from 1980 onwards. But today portrays the late 1990’s just before diesel locomotive hauled passenger work finished.

     

    Enthusiast Railtours were common during this time period and this allows further variety and even preserved steam can appear on occasions.

     

    Control is DCC using a Roco Z21 with all locomotives are fitted with sound.

     

    Layout has featured in Continental Modeller (Dec 23) and Modelspoor / Train Miniature Magazine (Apr 24).

     

    Details 

    Layout is 8 foot long and 2 foot wide and operated from the front right hand side.

    There are 2 fiddle yards a 1 foot one on the left and a 2 foot one on the right.

    Layout requires access both sides to work the fiddle yards.

     

    Layout has its own integrated lighting.

     

    Layout is supported by 3 “A Frames”

     

    Track level is 110cm to allow for viewing from a wheelchair / children.

     

    The layout requires a table for stock and couple of chairs behind.

     

    Requires 1 plug to connect the extension lead.

    Layout is based in Southern Scotland near Paisley.

     

    Layout can travel by “house” car, but assistance may be required to lift the layout out of the car and onto its stands.

     

    One operator although 3 passes are required as my wife and daughter may come along to allow me to have a lunch / go to the toilet.
