bob hughes60
I would be grateful if modellers who have done this and are prepared to share how they did it could reply. It appears the spindle on the CD motors I have can be sheathed with brass tube (it is about 1.95mm which is pretty much the same as 5 pole armature spindles) and a Hornby pinion gear (or suitable plastic gear) fitted. Howvever on 6 wheel ringfields the depth of the motor means the plastic faceplate will not lie flush on the side of the motor unit. This is a stumbling block as the middle wheel of the 3 is held on a central stub axle which has a flattened head and is held in place by the flush fit of the plastic faceplate. No faceplate no stub axle, no middle wheel. Measurements suggest I am looking for a CD rom motor with a depth of 8mm. I would be grateful for any suggestions from fellow members.
