neal cooper
I've just come across this whilst sitting down to work out what my Farish fleet can be renumbered to. So far I have the following basic info: 47474 RES livery, Retained water tank, round plated boiler exhaust port, off-set headlight. 47403 Plain BR blue, Retained water tank, round boiler exhaust port, no headlight. 47535 Large Logo Blue, Water tank removed, square plated boiler exhaust port, off-set headlight, flush ends. 47612 Inter City Executive, Water tank removed, square plated boiler exhaust port, off-set headlight, grey painted head ode panel. I've not got a long range tank one yet, although as above, the chassis is the long range tank version, and there are headlight variations I believe. Class 47 detail variations seem a complete minefield. I'm keen to find how limiting some of these variations are. Is the 'generator' version subject to any specific detail that stops it being renumbered out of the first twenty? Does the double flush ended 47535 limit the renumbering options? I suspect so. Short of slogging through Flickr, the Class 47 website and various books to tick off the variations, (including both ends) is there a work anywhere out there that shows these variations in their entirety? mjkerr
Does the double flush ended 47535 limit the renumbering options? Yes, mine is being modified to 47614 Others are : 47102 47141/614/853 47163/610/823/787 47190 47299 47458 (not identical but in N gauge hardly noticeable) 47522
neal cooper
Now how to go about getting a BR blue era 47/3? Non-water boiler chassis presumably, but which body to use? What modification is required to the roof, presumably they had no boiler port as no boiler fitted, so just a plain panel instead? Has anyone tried it already, I presume so! The nearest I could use would be 47612, which would then be repainted From what I can work out Farish have not yet released a BR Blue version (either combination or Long range fuel tank) Luckily hardly any 47/3 ever visited Glasgow Queen Street, so not one for me to worry about As for roof conversions, mercig have probably completed a few as this on the Class 47 option list
