RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted July 17, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2015 Lionheart have issued a 'press release' to MRE showing printed samples of their new oil tank wagons. Details are herehttp://www.mremag.com/index.php/news/178-lhtrainsyellowtanksHowever I hope these are just test shots and not the actual production models - check out the spelling of 'Lubricatinc' although looking again it does seem that the end G is very slightly different to the earlier C - or is it ? ? . hmrspaul
Thanks for the heads up. Looks good to me, the writing of these wagons was in an unusual style. The G appears accurate. See HMRS V8086 AAC812 as reproduced as Plate 541 in Tourret R. (2009) Petroleum rail tank wagons of Britain. 2nd edition 304pp. Tourret Publishing, Oxford, GB, ISBN 978 0 905878 09 6 Paul
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted July 17, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 17, 2015 Many thanks Paul - much appreciated. All I had to refer to were Ebay photos of the Hornby Dublo version where the G is definitely a G and so at first glance the Lionheart version just didn't look right. . RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted August 10, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 10, 2015 There is a much better photo on the Lionheart Facebook page and this shows that there is a difference between the C and the G. Also several other liveries available. Apologies for my original post based on a small photo, lack of knowledge of the prototype and an Ebay photo of the Hornby Dublo version Details here https://www.facebook.com/340112329467714/photos/pb.340112329467714.-2207520000.1439189341./727497907395819/?type=1&theater EDIT to acknowledge that the information came from Paul Bartlett via the Gauge O Guild Forum
Andrew Young
Mike, Hope you have written out 'I must not compare Lionheart to Hornby Dublo' one hundred times as penance....? Cheers, Andrew
