I'm trying to find a way to model at least part of the YVT in a different way. I was talking to someone over there via Skype and they said - 'Why not model the Carbarn and Yard'. When you think about it - it makes sense as you can have everything in the same place without it appearing out of characture. More on this idea later - and on a different thread! I've been busy with the map, dividers and measuring tape - then doing the same using both Google Maps and Bing Maps. Then compare to the few known dimensions I have. The result is? Hopefully you will follow the key and understand. The original Congdon Packing house has been modified and extended at least 8 times - hence the complex shape. The see through gap in the roofline is not a gap - its a filled in void that joins the other roofs at several angles and not all square at that! I gave up trying to draw and size it's shape. The Sanborn Map of Yakima for 1922 shows the Congdon Packing house in detail! Yakima+1920,+Sheet+80.pdf Does not show a lot of the rail - but has the dimensioned floorplan.
