There are a few schools of thought, sell it and buy one of the newer DCC ready locos or there are various guides on this site about split chassis locos and dcc fitting. I have not got one of these but I'd suggest do not hard wire the chip in as these days you could fit an appropriate plug, test with a cheap as chips DCC decoder then when you are happy it's ok on DCC then fit expensive sound.
