Kev T
I've built a Duke and I'm in the middle of painting it. It's unlined green with copper chimney and brass dome and safety cover. I believe it should have a green dome, but I like the dome in brass !! Question; should this have the engine number on the buffer beam for a late 1920's livery? I'm confused by the variations in the liveries. thanks Kev
RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted February 24, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2010 I take it you are referring to 32xx (90xx) class of loco. But the "Dukedog" I would thought that it would have had a painted steam dome, as the loco number being painted on the buffer beam was standard practise for G.W.R. Hope this helps. Terry. Miss Prism
Dukedogs had green domes. Yes, there would be a number on the bufferbeam.
Kev T
Thanks for the replies. It is a 32xx class the original Duke class, some of them were converted to Dukedogs, but this is a model of the Duke. Number on the bufferbeam it is then. cheers Kev
Miss Prism
For a Duke, I think the last recorded date for an unpainted dome was c 1923.
