Afternoon All,

As some of you may be aware, a film crew from the German TV railway programme 'Eisenbahn Romantik' ( http://www.swr.de/eisenbahn-romantik/index.html ) recently visited North Wales to make a film about the narrow gauge railways for a future broadcast. They filmed on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, plus Snowdon and the Miners' Tramway at Llechwedd. On the way, they also filmed the standard gauge and canal at Llangollen, and, whilst in Wales, they also filmed at Portmeirion, Caernarfon Castle, Llanfair PG and in the current, working, part of Llechwedd Slate Quarries. They also fitted in an evening rehearsal of a male voice choir at Bethesda - all in all, a well filled and demanding 14 days!

I had the pleasure of assisting in advising and organizing their trip, and drove them around in a hired mini-bus. It was a most enjoyable experience and I even managed to get a few pictures of my own. Some of these from Llangollen and the first visit to the WHR (we went there twice) are now on my Fotopic site; anyone interested to have a look is invited to click here :

As is my usual custom, this is the 'Stop Press!' collection for new pictures. They will be there for the next couple of weeks or so; after that they will be transferred to their permanent homes :

Further pictures will be uploaded as time permits. In the meantime, grateful thanks are due to all concerned for their help and co-operation in putting the Llangollen Railway, the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Hihghland Railway at our disposal. As well as the German 'Eisenbahn Romantik' programme, the film will also be shown on the joint French / German 'ARTE' channel ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arte ) who are doing a series called 'By Train Through .....' Ours will be called 'By Train Through Wales' and it should be broadcast in the spring with the German 'Eisenbahn Romantik' programme following later in the year.
