Now it is many many years since I last had a specimen of this particular confectionary, quite possibly circa 1960. Was it the case back then that the colour had some vague relationship to the named liquor? Port = dark red, Claret = red, Hock = yellow, Gin = green etc. Didn't seem quite right having dark red 'Hock'. Anyway it was unbelievably sweet and I declined any further encounter.
