298
A friend from work has seemed to have acquired a big pile of junk, and amongst it was this: The photo is of a screen grab from a video that I can't post here. The two halfs close together with about a 1mm gap, with the two sets of black plastic teeth interlacing. When the red string is pulled through, the two sets of pegs revolve fairly quickly. It is brass and finished with worn red paint, looks complete, and has no other markings except "Made in England". Any ideas...?

298
It looks like a cassette rewinder... That was an early guess...but it isn't. We do know what it's for now (i didn't when I started the thread), so let's see if anyone can work it out...
