mikeglr
Could some kind person please tell me how to remove the baseplate from the Bachmann E4. I've removed the 3 screws but it still seems fixed at both the front and the rear, I want to get at the pickups which are not touching the wheel rims at the extreme point of axle sideways travel. In fact I've found this a problem with several Bachmann steam models, and they all seem to get stuck over Peco electrofrog points. No rpoblem with Hornby locos though. Any suggestions? Many thanks in advamce Mike GLR
34theletterbetweenB&D
Extra screws, maybe under the coupler pockets, or down a deep hole in the underside? Or just the keeper plate clipping on very tightly? It may have a similar arrangement to the other 0-6-2 mechanism in the range, a protrusion of the keeper plate into a broad notch in the chassis block between the trailing coupled wheel and the truck wheelset, This was wedged in very tightly and had to be helped out using a fine bladed screwdriver to work into the gaps to ease it out.
