aardvark
Hey all: I'm thinking about modeling GNoSR in the LNER era, and see that Ebay has some so-called Hornby D41/1 loco's: R259 and R860. The Hornby collectors site says that both are actually D49's. Does anyone tell me the difference between the two classes? Will either run on Code-75 track without needing to change the wheels? thanks in advance for any help that anyone can offer!
aardvark
Sorry - stupid newbie question. I have just discovered the LNER encyclopedia (http://www.lner.info/locos/) which clearly shows that the Johnson/Pickersgill D41's were significantly different to the Gresley D49's. The Ebay sellers were mistaken: the models are really D49's. Buyer beware. I'd delete this topic if I could. Moderator?
great central
An error on the box end label if I'm not mistaken. I bought one many years ago with the same label. Good to see eBay sellers know what they are on about
