SD45T-2
Has anyone re-motored (and re-geared) one of these machines? I was given one (FOC) but the mazac casting that carries the motor and gearboxes was bent along its length and badly crazed. Upon removal from the loco it split into 4 pieces ... An American web-site suggested using JB Weld but I suspect that example's casting was still straight; on mine the gearboxes won't fit into the casting because of the bending. alastairq
Just to add insult to injury, I have found the plastic the gearboxes are made out of, can turn a bit, sort-of, crystalline? I have chassis, driveshafts, old fashioned Rivarossi motors, gears and so on.......useless without the plastic housings!

Perhaps we can combine the bits and get one operational example, plus one that can be left, unpowered, as a mid-train helper?
