As the wife has no idea about kits I checked the kit over & found the kit to have no backhead detail. The N1 is one of my favorite locos & I would like to detail it correctly with a backhead & cab detail. Looking at the castings I would say that the dome, chimney & smokebox door will need some nicer castings to bring it up to date better. I'm new to o gauge so my knowledge of suppliers is limited. I too am less than enamoured by the quality of ACE Products castings - currently building an N7/1 - but the kits are relatively cheap and you don't get owt for nowt.
