I'm looking to introduce a little variety into my proposed coil wagon fleet.

Does anyone have details of the internal baulks and timbers fitted to the B.R. Dia. 1/050 Shock Absorbing opens converted to 'Shock Coil' and the 1/039 & 1/044 Opens converted to Coil 'Y'.
.
Can anyone advise whether the timbers were (a) as per the Coil 'J' (Tippler)  conversions, which had fixed cross members, or as per the Coil 'C' (Pig Iron) conversions which had adjustable cross members.
.
For those who may not know what I'm on about, these are the wagons in question:-

Shock Coil:-

Coil Y:-

Any information gratefully absorbed.

I think there's a couple of views taken from a high angle in one of the Larkin tomes; I'll have a look later.

Brian- I've just had a quick look. They're all low-angle views, unfortunately.

There are a few of the Coil 'Y' conversions running through Shenston Road hereabouts - but apart from the coils being loaded longitudinally, there is nothing to be seen of the baulks.

Methinks a PM to either Paul J. or Greg B. may be called for.
