Carl LaFong
Hi My 00 layout is a fictional ScR one based somewhere in the Stirling/Perth area in the early/middle 1950's. As a young lad I remember seeing the LMS Twins at Glasgow Central quite often and at Edinburgh Princes St/Dalry Road shed on a couple of occasions. Did they ever work further north to Stirling, Perth, Dundee or Aberdeen? If they did they will become the first diesels to appear on my layout! Cheers
ardbealach
I can't recall them working north to Perth. The twins were regulars on the morning southbound 'Royal Scot' in the middle and late 1950's. I used to see them often from my science class room each day on this named train. Mad McCann
If they were rostered on Pacific diagrams, it's quite conceivable that they would have been borrowed by 66A/65B staff for fill-in turns taking them to Perth, Edinburgh, Greenock etc. Don't know if any photographic evidence exists to support that hypothesis, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen on occasion. The Condor Metrovicks got 'borrowed' frequently and 'Class 45s' presumably off the Thames Clyde have been spotted on and around 65B on fill-in work. Dave.
