49395
Anything new with this layout lately? At the moment there isn't much to report, other than our next exhibition is York at Easter 2018. Hopefully there'll be some progress spurred on by the looming deadline.
49395
So with only a few weeks to go till York show we're working on a few extra details for the layout. I've been working on a suitable truck to fill a space on the road, this kit is a resin model from 1st corps miniatures. There's still quite a lot to do to this to finish it off but it's most of the way there
49395
Wagons progress Over the last few days we've been adding lettering to wagons Where possible we'll be basing them on photos of real wagons as there's a lot of variety
49395
We're now up to 5 lettered wagons, I've made a start on the second side (the non viewing side) of each and they're about half finished Only about 4 weeks left till our next outing with the layout at York, still plenty to do.
49395
More rolling stock Over the last few nights I've been painting the nearly complete brigadewagen. The brake rigging is still to be finished and couplings are required. Somewhat unhelpfully the coupling mounting position on this wagon is significantly lower than that of the British rolling stock so some ingenuity will be needed.
49395
More lettering A bit more progress has been made applying wagon lettering First up, for a bit of variety is a D class wagon with yellow lettering Next, the 2 B class wagons have some of the lettering now done, still needing numbers I've also added some lettering to the truck Many thanks must go to fellow club member Paul for the assistance with the transfers

BigLars
Great work on the rolling stock. I am still trying to sort out how to letter and paint the cars I have. Any advice on colours would be geatly appreciated. Larry
49395
Thanks for the kind comments, with regards to the colour, that probably varies greatly depending on who you ask. We've based ours on restored rolling stock at Apedale, we'll be there next month for Tracks To The Trenches with the layout. There are a few photos of the real wagons in this thread. The colour we've used is Halfords grey primer, which we think is fairly close.
49395
Day 3 of Tracks To The Trenches at Apedale has seen the debut of our first 40hp Simplex running under its own power. The chassis is fully sprung and is completely under the floor, allowing the full interior to be fitted

BigLars
Have you made any progress? I am working hard to get 11 feet of my WW1 railroad completed by 11/ 11 and any inspiration would be helpful. Cheers, Lars
49395
Hi Lars This weekend we’re exhibiting at the Darlington show, so we’re finishing off setting up this morning, I’ll try and add a couple of photos to the thread when we’re up and running

49395
A small update from Darlington show And an idea of things to come This part built Joffre isn’t completely appropriate for the layout, but rule 1 applies.... It will eventually end up facing the other way when complete, the overhang on the cab end is a bit much for the couplings otherwise

BigLars
Thank you for sharing the new pictures. How are you connecting the wagons to each other? That is my next hurdle as well as finding decals for them.
