Dallam Freight Terminal being used as virtual quarry

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone.  Following a couple of hours at Warrington Bank Quay this afternoon to see the late running Daventry to Coatbridge Freightliner and the Colas Rail Carlisle to Chirk logs I noticed that Dallam Freight Terminal in Warrington is being used as a virtual quarry at the moment and has had a few DB Schenker hauled stone trains to here from Peak Forest.  There was a STP working on todays time table for a working but it was cancelled.

I did hear a rumour when out and about that the stone is being stock piled at Dallam for use on a local road construction project.  Does anyone have any information on this?

Its nice to see sidings been brought back into use again for freight. Local road projects that I can think of are the road and bridge works around Runcorn & Widnes for the new bridge crossing and also the A556 Dual Carriageway linking the M6 Junc 19 to M56 Junc 7, there may be others.

Cheers

Simon

On a wet and windy Wednesday night (6th April) at 21:49 DB Cargo Class 60, 60059 is shunting wagons at Dallam in Warrington whilst they are unloaded.  Dallam freight terminal is currently being used as a virtual quarry.  Had a go at a night time shot with a 4 second shutter speed trying to keep the camera as still as possible.
