VITRAINS CLASS 47 BUFFERS / DETAILING

Managed to obtain a Vitrains Class 47 (DRS Craftsman) for reasonable money and sprucing up a bit.

 

Buffers look a bit small, can anyone confirm if this is the case.

 

If so any recommendation for replacement, are they a straight forward fit ?

 

Any other detailing suggestions appreciated.

I fitted both my ViTrains 47's with Heljan 47 bufferbeams and buffers, huge improvement.

My ViTrains 47 has Lanarkshire Model Supplies round oleos. I'll post a photo later.

 

Edit to add: doesn't the detail pack on these come with two different sized buffers?

I've obviously been spending too much time on my steam era stock as I had mis-remembered the buffers fitted to my Vi-Duff; it was the 37 that I fitted the LMS buffers to, the 47 has the original Vi-Trains ones.  For comparison...

 

In the interest of consistency, I'll probably replace those on the 47 with the same, particularly as I'm not a big fan of sprung buffers; I find them too springy.

Most get around to adding the rest of the bits from the detail packs!!!

What size are the buffs ?

7.0mm for the ViTrains, 7.3mm for the LMS
