Marc d
Hi just wondering if anyone has any information and pictures of the port sunlight to bromborough dock branch? I remember the line being there and remember seeing the line disconnected and lifted when I was very young but not sure what year it closed any why. The route is still there as a cycle path but most of the dock has been completely changed. Thanks Marc
bennyboy
I visited the area a few months ago and I found this site when I was doing some research. http://www.wikiwirral.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/333721/Bromborough_Dock.html And there are a few pictures of a special event for Lever Bros. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/66334-levers-centenary-weekend-1988/
Marc d
That's awesome thanks very much. Loving the 502, would be good to see that being used on the merseyrail network again
Marshall5
Marc, you could do worse than get hold of a copy of "The Railways of Port Sunlight and Bromborough Dock" by Oakwood Press - don't know if it's still in print. It has lots of interesting history, photos and maps. I remember the system well, both when it was in use, and later lifting some of the track for re-use at Steamport. BTW the 502 is back in the area - under restoration at Burscough airfield. Cheers, Ray.
