Oh no!     That's a pain.   Fingers crossed the damage is limited 🤞

Want to get a few other things done before I take it to pieces. Won't take long when I get to it

All the best

The whole rotary thing is the sort of development I love, outside of the box stuff.

And boy do they sound good, I was sitting on the bank at Sulby village the day Hizzy won the senior TT on the White Charger, passing at close to 200 mph - sublime. I have video somewhere.  (And a few years later there we were living on the island and with our besties who live just around the corner on the course at Sulby Bridge).  The arguments as to how to measure its swept volume will never be settled mostly because 'they' (discuss whom) were doing their best to ban it, as it was making them look silly.  Great stuff from Creighton, and he's still at it.

Funny you should use that phrase Neil.   A good number of years ago I had some dealings with Gilo Cardozo who was doing some engine development work.  He too was someone who came up with some amazingly innovative, very low cost solutions to some tricky problems that "traditional" companies with "traditional" solutions couldn't hope to crack.    It was an education.

The pair of them together must be a real tour de force!

Cracking stuff, and the bikes will be old in due course 😀

I actually wouldn't describe the sound as nice, but boy does it sound evil!  The acceleration when Guy first opens it up is phenomenal; it must have really impressed him because he's off talking at his ADHD-powered best once back in the paddock.  Even unpainted that bike looks gorgeous.  Pity it's about forty times the budget for my next bike......

Somewhere on't u-toob there is a Mazda 4 rotor endurance race car, it is the most evil, howling exciting thing, this side of a Deltic.  As for the Norton, when you're there.....it is still in my head, all these years later.

Just following on with a really nice video on the human side of it all, with Brian Crighton himself. And how he got started, tuning 50cc engines in his shed, using a water hosepipe to learn about gas flow through ports!  😀

I can still hear Jamie Whitham's Ducati 916 being warmed up in the Knockhill paddock from 1995 - Vroom-Baahh! Vroom-Baahh! - it just stopped you in your tracks.  Just picked up a copy of Classic Bike celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the 916.  Now I feel a little older.

There is also several vids of drift cars that are using 6 rotor set  ups .

Hiya

The FZ750 frame, etc, are away being powder coated.

So I switched to fiddling with the CBR250RR over Easter. This is a 250cc 4 cylinder bike, with a 19000rpm red line. The bike is tiny.

Brakes stripped and new seals fitted. New brake line fitted. New tyres fitted. Looks like there is a fork seal I need to replace. Carbs are stripped down to clean out and replace the needle valve and seals (the carbs are tiny), plus the intake rubbers (the ones on there are rock had and starting to crack). Getting the carbs off was harder than it should be.

Also, removed the immobilizor. Don't trust it and too likely to kill the battery.

Hopefully have it back together next weekend.

All the best

Katy

Anyone got any spare*  money kicking around?     There's another auction in Puppershire at the weekend at Old Warden.   It was quite good last year with some interesting lots and mostly reasonable prices.   I belive the term is "It's a seller's market" at the moment.   I might have a toddle off over there on the viewing day and take a gander.

* No, I've never understood the concept of "spare" money either being a lowly peasant 🤣

No I'll give it a miss.      Z1's seem to be as common as muck, there's 6 of them in the auction (albeit of varying pedigrees 🤣 )!

I've always fancied a Scott but no, I mustn't.      The BSA 350 Empire Star caught my eye, it being the proper version of my 250 baby Empire Star.   Looks very nice (that tank would be good on mine) but the more I look at it the more strange things I see so I'll give that a miss too.

Who are you calling a Monkey?      Mind you, I wonder how much it would cost to ship to Aus? 😉   Chimpy would love it to chuck in the back of the UTE.

Some luvverly stuff in that auction, especially (to me) some 1990s icons.  John Reynolds' BSB race winner would be nice.

The Norton 16H might be the sort of thing my Grandad rode in Tunisia in 1943.

Bear wouldn't mind arriving at Box Hill on the Aston Martin one sunny Sunday afternoon.  Just one teeny problem though.....

All the best

I have acquired a pile of rust which allegedly contains two motorcycles.

I'm collecting / digging them out tomorrow, so I'll post some pictures of the haul.

As promised, pictures of today's haul, found literally across the road from a friend's house.

They've been in pieces since 1980 and before that had spent years dumped behind another garage.

They're both 250cc BSA C11 models. One is a 1951 3 speed example with the 40's style speedometer in the fuel tank.

The other is a 1953 4 speed with the B31 style tank with the chrome speed stripes on the tank sides.

I'm planning on reassembling the 1953 bike as it's more complete into something that will at least kick over and moving it on.

The 1951 bike will be subject to a full restoration once I have finished the Star Twin, it is currently returning, phoenix like from the ashes of last summer's fire.

We used to have a girder fork C10 and often regret selling it. (Despite the fact that Miss R fell off it while at walking pace!)

Ditto for the '51.

ZC11 engine for the '51, complete bar the carburettor and it turns over freely.

BC11 engine and various bits of tinwork for the '53.

How the 1951 bike should look:

The only major part missing is the fuel tank for the 1953 model if anyone knows where there is one?

Years ago, my younger brother had a C11G for a while (the one with the alternator, so a bit later). Much less fancy tank, mainly maroon, with the round Perspex BSA "rifles" badge.

Before that he had a C10 but ditched that after being comprehensively burned off by a mate of our Grandad's wearing a flat cap, riding a D7 Bantam with a box of veg from his allotment on the carrier! 😄

I quite liked the "G", and with hindsight should have taken it off him rather than buying a C15 like everybody else. He swapped it for a 197cc semi-trials style Francis Barnett with a very got-at motor that went like the clappers.
