50 Years Ago Today

Recommended Posts

50 years ago today, while most people were watching England win the World cup, Britannia Pacific 70017 Arrow hauling empty stock ran into the back of a goods train on the Carlisle goods lines at St Nicholas. It was hauling a train of empty passenger stock under Permissive Block regulations. It was withdrawn after the accident, the first Britannia to be condemmed.

This photo was taken on the following day at Upperby shed, Sunday 31 July 1966.
