Its very tempting to get some wheelsets from him.... http://www.awlingen.de/technischer-modellbau-holger-graeler/ Seen his site before. He's a bit coy about his prices. Would be of more help if he could actually say on his website what each of his sets actually cost.

Horsetan
He offers a bespoke conversion service, so bespoke prices as well ... Oh God. Anyhow, to test the water, I've asked him whether he can produce wheels for 18.201.

Horsetan
You know it makes sense.... Then again, if he uses Teichmann castings for his work, 18.201 would not be possible.

I imagine if the driving wheels are solid metal he could rework them. The only limit I imagine is how much you are willing to pay......

Yes, I'm not sure how you would rework the diameter of a driving wheel from a scale 2m to 2.3m.....

Horsetan
Herr Graler has not replied to my enquiry re: 18.201, so I guess he thinks I'm having a laugh.
Wyvern
It may have gone to his spam box. Did you send your email in English or German? I don't know if he speaks English so he may have ignored it if it was in English. Oh on another note Horsetan, how much are Teichmann wheel castings and do you have the contact details for mr Teichmann? all the best Guy

I can read German, but don't have the ability to speak it with any confidence. how much are Teichmann wheel castings and do you have the contact details for mr Teichmann? Surprisingly reasonable until you start adding all the necessary bits together! I'll send you a PM.
Horsetan
.... do you have the contact details for mr Teichmann? UPDATE: have sent you the details via PM. BTW, you may also be interested in Witteyer's Workshop, which specialises in machining and finishing Teichmann wheel castings, and includes a taste of the lathe operations Herr Witteyer employs to turn out the wheels to NEM or RP25 profile. I can see the use of step chucks and and Fohrmann-type wheel holding tool (60 Euro from Fohrmann). He used to offer a HO-pur service as well, but this was withdrawn some years ago. Still, if you thought Ultrascale was expensive, Witteyer's price list is an eye opener - almost 300 Euro for a Br.52 set, engine only, and another 105 Euro to do the tender. Worth learning to use a lathe and do the work yourself.
