I have some in the workshop which have been fitted with 00 chips and are very poor runners. Not sure if it's underpowered chips, or a poorly performing chassis. It doesn't break any speed records but we can't complain about the performance. Can I suggest that you by-pass the decoder and see what the loco runs like on conventional DC.
