Matabiau
A few photos from the open day at the Toulouse Technicentre this morning, part of the Journée Européene du Patrimoine. BB 7215 jacked up X 2844 2D2 5525 CC 6530 "Capitole" Chasse Neige 2 BB 69000 AA 68081 This was probably the last opportunity to visit the Technicentre as it will soon be demolished to make way for the new TGV station planned for its site. The heritage stock will in part be moved to the new depot as it belongs in the main to the SNCF but the future is unsure for the steam locomotives (no photos I'm afraid as they were in a state of disassembly for overhaul and hidden in the dark of the shed). The depot is squeezed in to a space behind the railway station with the sheds arranged along a traverser which is in turn accessed by a pair of turntables. This limits the the depot to locmotives and single railcars. As the SNCF passenger fleet is finally abandoning its locomotive hauled trains this depot has become practically redundant anyway. SNCF stephen
Thanks for sharing. Some great photos there. Sad to hear that the depot will be closing soon. It feels as if the SNCF are about ten years behind the UK with their abandonment of loco hauled services. Thanks for sharing. Some great photos there. Sad to hear that the depot will be closing soon.
