Blog- Lukasz's Modern-ish Blog - A class 37 or a class 37 or umm a class 37?

Well as the title suggest the class 37 seems to have invaded my workbench with all four of the fleet making there way on to compare them a little. I am totally in favour of Bachmann's offering as I feel it's just nicer. I can't put my finger on it but something about vi trains finish screams toy at me.

I'm not gonna give you a review on the different locos but I've come to the point where all of them are at varying stages and I feel the need to assess work needed on them and work done on them.

Having recently bought bachmanns old shell 37419 it's obvious that the moulding has come on leaps and bounds although sadly detailing hasn't. The model hasn't got lamp brackets or a MU socket and doesn't have snowploughs either(although the Bachmann ones are wretched and I really ought to get some Heljan 47 ploughs). I've snatched the Mu sockets off of 37428 which at some point will become a mainline liveried loco.

The photos show the difference between old and new 37/4 wise and highlight some problems the old loco faced.

Also sititng on the workbench is the first of the birthday pressies to be weathered. With it's base coat of thinned white acrylic and a dirty roof with powders the railfreight VAA is looking close to what I want it to look like.

While on the workbench I set up a little scene with a building that's being built for my layout(more on that later;)) and it's certainly given me a taste of things to come.

Just imagine a cold crisp autumn morning in 2000 and 37057 trundles past the small stabling point with a somewhat large amount of loco power than the usual 08 and odd 37. A line of soon to be stored 37's sit folorn in the morning sunlight as the MOD/stores move passes.
