RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 20, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 20, 2010 I do hope it won't involve people stepping on & off trains - the stepping distances at WIT are not compliant with normal UK standards.
LSWR
Edith Nesbit's original story of 'The Railway Children' didn't have great detail about locomotives when it was published over 100 years ago. The various TV and Movie derivatives used different lines for their locations with different locomotives. I vaguely remember that one of the black and white BBC series for TV in the '50s was filmed on the ex-LB&SCR Guilford to Horsham branch. The 1970 movie had the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway as its bacxkdrop. So the Stirling Single is as good as any and maybe better than some for a theatrical production, since it has a very open cab.
