Gauge O Fine Scale loco chassis width

Recommended Posts

I read that the back to back dimension for Gauge O Fine Scale wheel sets is 29.0 mm and for S7 the dimension is 31.2 mm. Also, the overall width of a pair of S7 loco wheels is greater than the same Fine Scale wheels.

If using Slaters wheels can someone please tell me the maximum loco and tender frame width possible [a 4-4-0 loco with a 6 wheel tender], assuming that the radius of curved track to be negotiated will probably be about 20 feet ?

Will it be a different width dimension for S7 ?

I looked at Laurie Griffin's inside valve gear in operation on You Tube and I noticed that one driving wheel at least, was not perfectly round. If it was a Slaters wheel, are they not always true ? If they aren't, it would suggest to me that some form of chassis compensation is a must ?

Are there any preferences for types of chassis compensation

Does the centre boss protrude beyond the rear face of the tyre on the back of Slaters wheels, or is it in line ?

Your views will be greatly appreciated.
