60535 cabside numbers

Currently doing an N gauge modeller of 60535 HORNETS BEAUTY. I'm never sure about cabside digit size so rather than get it wrong I thought it better to ask first.

 

This is one of the better pictures I can find online of the loco in the appropriate era.

So can anyone confirm the cabside digit height, are these 10" jobs?

Sounds about right, but isn't it marvellous the way the prototype has that patch of varnish to make applying the numerals esier?

Yeadon gives nothing away, but I would guess 10 inch.

No. It has simply been cleaned around the number to make it visible - standard practice.

I can't help with actual dimensions, but if someone can tell you measurements of the worksplate or the breadth of the yellow stripe, you could scale the numbers from that second picture.

Thanks guys, after a bit more guidance I've opted for 10" numerals and they are now on the loco and subject to a few more looks I think they look right.
