LEEDS, Middleton Railway 17 & 18 June 2017

Drewry Car

Recommended Posts

Middleton Railway, The Station, Moor Road, Hunslet, LEEDS, LS10 2JQ

Organised by, and all proceeds to, the Middleton Railway Trust

Open 10:00 to 17:00 each day (steam passenger trains operating regularly between 11:00 and 16:00), light refreshments available in the shop/café.

Admire the models set amongst the real thing in our Engine House and you can travel on a full size steam train. There is also the opportunity to drive a full size locomotive, now in their third century of operation at Middleton, as we will be operating ‘Driver for a fiver’ on one of our locomotives – when did you last do that at a Model Railway Exhibition?

With the exception of ‘Driver for a fiver’ all areas of the exhibition and the train ride are accessible to visitors with disabilities.

 Admission:

 Exhibition/Engine House/Platform only

Adult: £4.00

Child: £2.00

Family: £10.00

Exhibition/Engine House plus unlimited train rides:

Adult: £7.00

Child: £3.00

Family: £18.00

We are expecting up to11 layouts in a variety of scales: O, OO, N & 009 at least. Layouts will include: Chesil Exchange (O), Isle of Man, Blwch Teganau (009), Leeds Weeklyn Hill (OO), Three Bridges & Dalwood (009) Crampton Tyney (O), Ikuno station (Japanese N) together with Paul Lunn offering layout ideas,

Reminding us that model railways are fun too we have vintage Tri-ang OO and some ‘hands on’ layouts – all upstairs in our ‘play room’!

Traders will include Keith’s Model Railways, Helm Models & Hobbies, Leigh Models and Hobbies, Leeds Transport Historical Society and second hand tables.

This is an event for all the family – not just the modeller. When the non-modellers have exhausted the facilities we offer at Moor Road we have Middleton Woods and Park at the top of the line, the Tulip Retail Park is opposite and the White Rose Shopping Centre is just a short distance away. We pride ourselves on a welcome for all – come and experience it for yourselves.

Time progresses at Middleton Railway as you can take a look at the major new exhibit being installed in the engine house. The Potts (of Leeds) station clock originally at Llandudno Junction is now hanging from the southern most roof beam. Come and see this clock with a face of about four feet diameter.

The Potts clock is now telling the time correctly not just twice a day.

I'll be wandering around tomorrow and riding the train on Sunday.

Fine weather planned for the weekend in Leeds, come along to see models and live steam action.
