sb67
I've put a Hattons 21 pin decoder in a Bachmann class 40, adjusted cv's 2,3 and 4 but it runs very jerky at low speeds. Has anyone else tried this loco/decoder combination. I've got Bachmann class 25's with Hattons decoders and they run great. Any advice greatly appreciated. Steve. 10000
Not got that decoder but jerky at slow speed can be dirty track, dirty wheels or dirty pickups. The 40 has few pickups considering the number of wheels its got. Another cause on Bachmann stock is BEMF. So if its not a dirt problem try turning that off. If it's one of Bach latest 40's they had a issue with non conductive grease being used along with a new design of pick-ups, this could ? be the problem and not the decoder................. sb67
It is one of he latest ones but runs well on DC. I'll try turning the BEMF off and give everything a good clean. Steve.
sb67
I've tried turning the BEMF off and cleaned everything I could. The loco runs fine but is still jerky on low speeds. I put the decoder in a Heljan class 16 and that runs like a dream so that's where it will stay. I'm putting it down to one of those strange things that can happen with DCC and I'll get a better decoder when I get the chance. Steve.
