Hi Phill, Looking forward to some pics of your terminus http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_thumbsup2.gif .

Hi Rob http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif , I will post some pics later http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif . The terminus is a much simplified version Ilfracombe, although I don't have a definite name yet, it could be Woolacombe,Hilfracombe or Melbourne http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif ....but I'm open to other ideas http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Cheers Phill http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_thumbsup2.gif

Hi Jordan http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif , it's on the back burner at the moment though as the terminus is taking priority , I've been soldering bonding wires or jumper cables (whatever the correct term is) at all the rail joints this afternoon(I've got about half of them done)..........soon trains should be actually running into the terminus at long last http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . I will post some pics of the 121 though as soon as there is something to see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif . I hope 'Lister' is still progressing nicely http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Hi http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wave.gif , One of the first O gauge projects when I returned to modelling was my rake of Lima MK1's which I widened , fitted 'Three Cee' sides to & fitted door furniture, roof vents etc. These were OK at the time but TBH they looked a bit lacking at the side of the MK11's which I built on this thread a while ago, so off & on ,I have been upgrading them over the last few months. One thing that really stood out was the Lima bogies which bear little or no resemblance to anything that a BR MK1 ever had under it (see below)

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=89634

So armed with 8 spare bogies from the MK11 project I have now started to re- bogie them with the Triang B4 bogies , which should make them look a lot better. First job was to remove Triangs attempt at break shoes, I then melted bearings in to the axle boxes ready to accept 'HOG' & 'Easy-Build' wheels. The axle ends had to be shortened to fit the bogies, once this was done I cut the outer cross members to get the wheels in (& glued the crossmembers back together once the wheels were in ). This results in a reasonable looking bogie, but unfortunately they sat far too low on the MK1's, so some sort of packing was needed to raise the height of the coaches, I had a pile of the original Triang course scale plastic wheels which would otherwise be binned , so I hit upon the idea of using these, I snipped the wheels off the axles & snipped the axle ends off the other side of the wheels (the last part makes it easier to drill the centres , Once I had drilled the centres I ended up with bogie bearers which not only raised the coaches to the correct height & worked perfectly , they actually looked quite good too http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif . So I have now painted & weathered them & they are ready to bolt on to the MK1's.

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=89632

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=89628

]

The rest of the Mk1's will be running on 'Easy-Build ' Commonwealth bogies, more of which later...........

Cheers Phill

A brief update, here are a couple of pics(sorry about the qaulity) of the first coach on it's bogies http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif , ( I think the left bogie is the wrong way round but hopefully you get the idea oops http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif ).

Yes , I think there are about 13 MK1 vehicles including the BG's in the parcels rake, With the MK11's I will have 2 full rakes of passenger stock & the parcels rake, which sounds like a lot , but it's about the minimum really for time table operation http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Phil, this thread is annoyingly inspirational, I'm having to try hard to resist selling all my OO gear and buying some hymeks! (Had a triang one when I was a nipper!)

Please have some pity for me and my wallet and stop showing us how affordable O can be. I want to convince myself that loco's are ?‚??1000's and Coaches and wagons are far too difficult to build. Please lie to us and say how you regret all this 7mm stuff and wish you'd stuck to the old 'Ornby!! http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

All except the last 4 MK1's are now on B4 bogies, so I have started to construct the first pair of 'Commonwealth Bogies' which will be under the remaining 4 MK1's.
