bluedepot
hi everyone sorry beginner question... I notice that some autorails and trailers were in the colour schemes of red/white, blue/white, green/white or yellow/white. were these specific to different regions? were these liveries from the 1980s? I'm thinking primarily about x2200 and rrr sets I've seen pictures and models of but also some older autorails in blue/white. cheers Tim
kintbury jon
Yes they were specific to regions. Regarding X2200 and some X2100, green and white was for Brittany. One X2200 was painted yellow/white for Languedoc Rousillon. A batch of X2200 in blue/white were used on the Tour to Paris service via Chateaudun. The red X2200 were mainly used in the Massif Central region. The X2800 and X2100 units were in a blue/white with grey around the windows which was a general DMU livery of the 80's. RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted August 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2017 ...and then some clown started moving them around and in the 90s you would find a right mixture with even autorail and trailer in different liveries.
bluedepot
ok thanks for the fast replies. did they put the regions name on the vehicles like they do now? the models of x2100/x2200 I've seen pictures of don't seem to have any region name or logo on them. cheers Tim
bluedepot
i've ordered a green one! does it come with TER Bretan or SNCF logos to stick on it? Also is the XR 6000 trailer a driving trailer? Cheers Tim
kintbury jon
Not sure on the logos but the trailers have no cabs. The x2100/2200 would run round the trailer at the terminus. What often happened was a power car at each end of a train thus avoiding the necessity to run round.
JAMO
I try to help you... There is several possibilities: logo SNCF or TER and logo "Région Bretagne" or "Rannvro Breizh"

What often happened was a power car at each end of a train thus avoiding the necessity to run round. The trailers are always located at the end of the train. They can't be pushed by the railcar because they haven't a control cab.
bluedepot
thanks a million everyone! that was exactly the information i needed! this is a great discussion board and very helpful people on here esp, useful for beginners like myself! yes i had seen a lot of videos where the trailer(s) were sandwiched in the middle jamo thanks a lot for the pictures of the TER signs they stuck on the railcars. do you know any shops that sell them? cheers tim
RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted September 23, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 23, 2017 I've checked my usual sources for such things but no joy.
bluedepot
ok cheers for looking I'll ask the star boutique sales person at the show in birmingham perhaps it's a shame jouef don't add some stickers or transfers in the box for these railcars would be fairly inexpensive Tim
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted September 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 25, 2017 I think Apocopa did some Breton transfers at one time. Worth checking. But with Jamo's excellent pics, probably not too difficult to get some made.
JAMO
It's easy to reproduce the stickers from my photos I don't know if any frenchy craftman or else make this logo. Edited September 25, 2017 by JAMO
RMweb Premium DIW Posted September 28, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 28, 2017 Is anything from Colorado Decals of use? They have all sorts, and not necessarily listed in a logical order!
bluedepot
cheers for the replies and links! it seems like the market for decals in france is not very big! i've seen transfers for small sncf logos that will be fine i've not seen any for the blue ter though seems like someone missing a trick as surely decals would be useful for other railcars or coaches... tim
RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted September 30, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) My guess is that the market is not judged to be there to warrant the effort. AMF87 (https://www.amf87.fr/prestashop/) do a range of transfers - just not these. Most modern releases seem to include all the necessary detailing and are usually released over time in the most popular liveries. The number of people doing a re-livery is probably much smaller than the number of UK modellers still building kits. EDIT: You will have to edit the link back to the last"/". For some reason the system has added in the next 4 characters as part of the link. Edited September 30, 2017 by Andy Hayter
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted October 1, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 1, 2017 Is anything from Colorado Decals of use? They have all sorts, and not necessarily listed in a logical order! Very interesting. I knew that J-Loup Carpena had disappeared off to Portugal but did not know that his useful series of Decals was still available under this new trading entity. Can't find anything there for the OP though.
bluedepot
bonsoir tout le monde! some good news! i bought some sncf decals from ebay and at the same time I messaged the seller tchoutchou*fr (from www.tchoutchou.fr) and they have said some ter transfers are in development... but just for the italic ter logo - not specific to a region. next up a favour... i don't have a colour printer and only have access to a pretty rubbish one at work. also i'm not that technical... so would anyone be able to help me out please? I can send them some money for p+p and paper etc. etc. could someone create and print some old and new style 'region bretagne' logos to the right size please? just say 6 of each type. (I think it will be like a 0.45mm square) send me a personal message if you can help anyway please. last but not least, I have taken the body off to fit a decoder (and add a driver), and I can see it needs a fairly slim 21 pin decoder, can anyone suggest which make / model to buy for it? it just needs to operate the lights and the motor... any advise much appreciated! merci for all your help tim
Gordonwis
another decals supplier: http://www.francis-miniatures.com/fr/159-decalques-train Best way to see decals is to visit one of the big French shows where the majority of artisans exhibit. Next one of the these is probably Chartres in November.
bluedepot
below is as far as i have got... just sncf and ter logos added to each end (and a driver) i did manage to get some region bretagne logos, but they were too big! i think they were for corail coaches or new autorails... they were much too big so couldn't adapt them... next i am trying to get some custom decals that will be the correct size... tim
